The students at Tallowood Steiner School are currently engaged in the study of measurement; Capacity, Volume and Mass. Consistent with our entire educational approach ,the students are immersed each day in hands on activities, such as measuring millilitres and litres using various sized containers, predicting and estimating then proving accuracy and discovering displacement! Best loved of all, is baking! Baking is a wonderful way to experience the world of measurement as it relates to everyday life. Recently, members of the Bowraville Lions Club visited our school to attend a presentation of song, recitation, recorder playing and movement, by the school’s youngest students. Prior to this, our k-1-2 class spent the morning, estimating, measuring, weighing, stirring, sifting and mixing, as they baked delicious and nutritious fruit muffins, to serve to the club members. After a wonderful sharing of the student’s work and a delicious morning tea, the club members left with full hearts and bellies, impressed with the quality of the student’s learning and their cooking!
